Practical Driving Test

The practical test consists of an eyesight check, some vehicle safety questions, and a 40-ish minute driving test, which will include specific manoeuvres. You can make up to 15 minor driving faults and still pass the test (16 or more and you fail). Make one serious or dangerous fault and you'll fail.

You must bring:

Your theory test pass certificate (or confirmation) if you’re not exempt from taking the theory test
Your driving licence If you have an old-style paper licence instead of a photocard, you must also bring a valid passport.

When you pass your test

The examiner will give you a pass certificate if you pass the test. They will also ask you if you want your full licence to be sent to you automatically. Once you have passed your test you can start driving straight away - you don’t need to wait for your full licence to arrive.
